what is written rock?
Written Rock is a multi-faceted publication company set on helping writers grow within the industry through self-support and self-promotion. Your Publishing company.
Writers in today’s industry are found everywhere and are often under-appreciated, given they can be found at every stop in day-to-day life. Written Rock wants to break down the boundaries between publisher and writer to make the process of printing a book a well-natured experience for both parties.
Our innovations in how we do business will make us the leaders in digital print, print publishing, writing, audio and video-production, app design and video-game development in the world.
All of these aspects have one thing in common. They all need writers and their success lies in the content produced by the people who know how to put pen to paper. (Or fingers to keys in the 21st century).
Written Rock was founded back in 2012, when founder Andrew Aitken set out to become a published writer with a publication based out of Ohio. Aitken would soon learn of costs exceeding the thousand-dollar range before the company would look at his work.
Rather than invest in book after book, Aitken reached out to an online community of writers who were interested in self-publishing under the name Written Rock. Today, Written Rock and its pseudonyms have reached out to writers from over 100 different countries and now has written contributions from every continent on Earth. They've contributed to our series of poetic anthologies, short stories, group stories and children’s books alike.
Written Rock grows stronger every day. The sustainability lies in our ability to connect with our authors one-on-one to help make their vision a reality. After 8 years of gaining our base audience with our event tours, Written Rock is ready to expand into the print industry and branch out further to reach a larger number of people with upgraded and more interactive services.
Written Rock hopes to be a global enterprise of writers helping writers achieve their dreams of one day writing a best-seller without all the red tape put up by the modern publication companies.
Written Rock isn't a publishing company, we're a self publishing author incubator and this difference is where we will shine in the long run. We want to create a movement of authors helping authors to create our own publishing company that isn't trying to make money off of us all but help us make money, so we can write even more. We have a long way to go but we are truly ready for this challenge.

We want to create a movement of authors helping authors to create our own publishing company that isn't trying to make money off of us all but help us make money, so we can write even more. We have a long way to go but we are truly ready for this challenge.
Everyone who's ever self-published a book, knows how difficult it was to write and finish it without any help. The process could take months or sometimes years of your personal time and that's a part of your life you'll never get back.
Most writers then have to sing and dance to get the publishers attention and it should be the other way around. Most publishers make money off of the author instead of helping the author make money. It doesn't make sense! It should be common sense that if the author made more money they would write a lot more, then giving the publisher more product to sell and business would be better for everyone. The current industry is backwards.
We're on a mission to change how the publishing industry does business! I know it may take decades, but we're passionate about uniting the writers of the world. Why do we care more about you getting paid than our wallets being filled? Surely it must seem like we're too good to be true or that we're insane, but I assure you, we're not; we're here for you. We're authors ourselves and understand how it is.
We're definitely a little fish in an ocean filled with sharks.
We know we're treading dangerous water but we can't give up the fight, or many other fish might not even get the chance to swim. To use another analogy to describe our situation: we're like David, going up against many "Goliaths" at the same time. We aren't scared because we have a Rock to protect us and you know the story about what the 'little guy' can do with a rock.
We may be a small publishing company but we would fight for you with the confidence of the whole world behind us. We are one of the most active and engaging publishing companies in the world because we don't just sit back and let the books come to us; we go out and inspire the world to create them. Between all of our social media outlets and our Literacy tours we literally engage in conversation with thousands of people every week. We know there's a world of people ready for what we offer and together we're going to change the world of literature.
I guarantee we can help you, through every step of the process to welcome you to the Written Rock family. Together we will solidify a foundation for generations to come.
-Andrew Aitken
We’ve spent years talking to the people who would not normally consider themselves to be book readers. We’ve learned their insight and have understood why books are considered ‘boring’ and have gained their attention through non-conventional methods.
We feel that combining today’s technology with printed books is the best way to make them profitable in an entertainment market swarmed by motion pictures.
Behind every motion picture is a writer. Whether on YouTube, on Netflix, on television, in app design, in radio, in music or in Hollywood – all of these markets rely on writers and what they can bring to the table in terms of entertaining content. Often under-credited, these writers will struggle to gain any kind of success, and most won’t even get their start due to the finances needed to get their book to print in the first place.
You’re a struggling author. You have a literary masterpiece, but the big-name publishing company is asking for $1200 before they will even touch your book. After that, they say, you can make your first $2000 payment for 100 copies of your book. You know your work is good. Family and friends have told you your work is good, but you already work full-time to make ends meat and sales are not guaranteed.
It’s a gamble most aren’t willing to take… Enter Written Rock – a solid foundation for literacy.
We pride ourselves on unlocking potential in people and help them achieve their publishing goals at the pace they desire. We have the experience and the knowledge necessary to market each new product to get the best results. As of 2020 our accomplishments include:
