The past five years have been a bit difficult at times.
Sometimes though, the harsh conditions can cause creative ideas to swirl. In The Grey Claw, Andrew discusses his reaction to the chaotic world around him. Mental health issues take center stage in this collection. This is a book that sheds light on the mind of someone desperately trying to find answers and meaning in a meaningless world. Everyone has been to a dark place in their life, but it is a challenging thing to document such feelings in words. A majority of the poems written in this collection were taken from an active duty sailor on deployment. How would someone see an anxious world while dealing with their own anxiety? In a bleak and depressing time in life, how could someone with such depression turn their negatives into positives? |

Sailing Aphrodite

"Hey there, my name is Andrew Keaveny, and I’ve been rebuilding my father's old beaten-up sailboat for nearly two years. Last year in 2022, I spent 6 months working tirelessly on refitting the interior. Once April hit my boat was first in the water out of the marina and away I went…for a total of five hours. Five hours in I blew an oil ring or cracked a piston. It’s been a year since the “incident” and I’ve bought a new old stock engine, which I’ve put in (video below), and I’m currently mid-rebuild on the interior from some water damage while I was away.
I’ll be sailing around the world in this 33’ 1976 Endeavor, which I call, Aphrodite. Subscribe to come along for the ride while I check this planet out. - Andrew |
