We exist to bridge the gap between artists and publishers, creating a space where both sides grow together. Our goal is simple: break down the barriers that stand between creators and their dreams, and build a supportive community where everyone thrives.

These days, talented writers are everywhere—but too often, their voices are overlooked or undervalued. We believe great content is the heartbeat of any successful publishing venture, and that writers deserve the spotlight. That’s why at Written Rock, we work across multiple fields—digital publishing, books, podcasts, film, apps, and even video games—because in every one of these spaces, writers play a key role. We’re here to make sure their work gets seen and celebrated.

Founded in 2012 by Andrew Aitken, Written Rock began as a home for self-published authors looking for a different path—one with more freedom, ownership, and creative control. What started as a small idea has now grown into a global network, with submissions and contributors from over 100 countries. We've published everything from poetry collections and short stories to collaborative books and titles for young readers.
What sets us apart is the way we work directly with writers. We listen. We collaborate. We help bring their visions to life. Over the years, our live tours and events have built a loyal community of readers and writers who connect with what we do—and we’re just getting started. As we grow into the print space, we’re bringing new levels of interactivity, design, and creativity to our offerings.

But our mission goes beyond just publishing books. We’re here to build something bigger—a worldwide network of writers helping each other succeed. We believe in the power of writers uplifting writers. That’s the spirit that drives us every day, and it’s what we want to share with the world.

I've been on that side of the table—just a man with a story and a dream, navigating a system that didn’t feel built for me. That’s why I started Written Rock. Not just to publish books, but to build a home for creators. Whether it’s writing, podcasting, music, or any other form of expression, my goal is to give people the space and tools to feel seen, to be heard, and to not give up—even in a world of billions of voices.

Because when you're pouring your soul into something, you deserve more than silence in return.

After talking with hundreds of people who don’t consider themselves readers, we’ve learned something important—books aren't boring, but they often lose the battle for attention in a world flooded with faster entertainment.

So, we set out to change that. We’ve been experimenting with creative ways to blend the timeless power of books with modern technology—finding new ways to engage people who’ve never thought of themselves as readers before.

We believe there's still a place for books in a screen-heavy world. And not just a place—a thriving, profitable, exciting lane in the entertainment industry. Because the truth is, at the core of every powerful movie, every hit podcast, and every viral video, there’s always a writer.

Writers make everything work. They just rarely get the credit—or the resources—they deserve.
And that’s why Written Rock exists: to give writers and creators the support they need to build something real. Whether it’s a book, a podcast, a song, or a full creative career, our mission is the same—to help one person at a time, and grow together from there.

We’re proud of what we’ve built. In 2020 alone, we helped over 300 writers self-publish their first books, and supported 113 more with their second projects. We’ve helped raise over $250,000 for local causes, launched tutoring and ESL programs that guided students toward diplomas, and hosted almost 100 events (with a few world record attempts thrown in).

Our website has reached more than 5 million visitors from over 100 countries, but we’re still just
getting started.

Here’s the honest truth: right now, Audioh Canada and our podcasting division have taken off faster than anything we’ve ever done. It’s growing like wildfire, so most of our time and energy is going into keeping that momentum going while still staying true to our roots in writing and publishing. We believe if we keep building the right way—one artist at a time—we’ll keep creating something that lasts.

But we’re also not some huge machine with endless staff and funding. We’ve got one part-time team member. One person helping with the website. And our one full-time staff member? That’s our founder—he’s working two full-time jobs just to fund all this. He's barely got time to sleep, but hey, he’s the reason this all exists, so we’ll cut him some slack.

We may be small, but we’re mighty. Every connection we make matters. Every project we take on is personal. And we know that the more people who join us—writers, readers, listeners, collaborators—the more lives we can impact.
